Naples With Young Kids

Whether you plan to pack everything into one day or spend a few nights in the area, Naples scores big with family-friendly activities and miles of soft, sandy beachfront. Add to that the upscale atmosphere and warm Gulf Coast air, and adults get a taste of vacation-life too!

Before you venture downtown, check out my top to-do’s for tackling Naples with young kids:

Go Fish! – With miles of luxurious, white sand and gentle ocean surf, the Naples beach is a wonderful way to spend your day with kids. Splash through the waves and play in the sun, or walk the Pier for dolphin sightings and spot the locals reeling in the perfect catch.

Run Wild at the Naples Zoo
– Located just outside downtown, the zoo is the perfect spot for keeping the little ones entertained. From penguins, to leopards and gators, there’s something for everyone to see and educational encounters for enriched learning.

Shop for Souvenirs in Tin City – If you’re looking for deep-fried food, this is the place to go. This historic landmark is now filled with cute shops and waterfront eateries. Pick up some classic seashell souvenirs and grab lunch on the river.

Cruise the Waterfront
– Whether you’re catching some “me time” as the kids nap in the backseat or out for a leisurely drive, the downtown waterfront is the place to spot extravagant homes and the luxe Naples lifestyle.

Stroll 5th Avenue – Spend the afternoon window shopping and people watching along 5th Avenue. With free parking, it’s easy to get around with kids. Tired of the stores? Grab a seat at any restaurant for happy-hour specials or an ice cream at Kilwins to soak up the afternoon sun.

Catch Some Shade at Cambier Park
 – Ready for a break? Grab a coffee and head over to Cambier Park (walkway beside Starbucks) to let the kids run loose. With closed in structures and shade drapes hanging above the playground, you’ll be able to cool off while the little ones burn some energy. The park even has workout gear overlooking the space so you can work-off that ice cream while your kids play.

Sail Away
Hop on one of the many boat cruises for an ocean view of the town. Explore the local waterways, catch the sunset, go dolphin watching or sit back and relax on an evening dinner tour.

Early Dinner at HobNob
– With their kids’ menu posted right out front, this rustic-modern restaurant in the heart of downtown Naples quickly became an all-time favourite of ours. The house cornmeal muffins go down too easy and the mussels are a must. Their full-bodied wines and mouth-watering farm-to-table menu had us coming back on several occasions.

Old Naples for Sunset Tunes
– Huddle around the antique fountain at the Courtyard at Ridgway for an evening cocktail and live music as you catch the last rays of sunshine for the day. Another unique shopping district, Old Naples is lined with funky storefronts and bustling restaurants. The Tommy Bahama Bar & Store is a local favourite and must-see attraction.

With so much to see and do, Naples is sure to delight visitors of all ages! This sunny city captured our hearts with (hopefully) many return visits to come.
